The Property Standards Bylaw set the minimum maintenance standards for all properties in the Town of Wasaga Beach. All property owners are required to maintain all parts of their properties including interior and exterior property areas such as lawns, buildings, structures, fences, vehicles, roofs and more..
Property Standards Order Appeals |
“If you receive a Property Standards Order” and you are not satisfied with the terms or conditions of the Order you may appeal to the Property Standards Committee. Submit a Notice of Appeal before the appeal deadline date by registered mail to: Secretary, Property Standards Committee, Appeal - Decision Limits - Property Standards CommitteeThe Property Standards Committee is empowered to do only three (3) things based on facts alone (they cannot rule on circumstance i.e. financial hardship, medical or personal issues, etc.):

Enforcement |
Municipal Law Enforcement Officers may enforce the Property Standards By-law on a proactive or reactive basis. Upon observing a violation, Officers may issue the owner or tenant with a Notice of Violation, or a Property Standards Order to comply with the standards in the Property Standards By-law. Owners/tenants are given a reasonable amount of time to comply with the provisions of the by-law. If an Order is not complied with, Officers may issue a summons to court to the owner or tenant of the property for Failing to Comply with a Property Standards Order. Additionally, under the authority of the Building Code Act, Officers may execute a work order and repair the deficiencies on the owners behalf. All expenses from the work order would be charged back to the property owner and collected in the same manner as property taxes and be added as a primary lien.” |
Rental Housing and Apartment units |
OwnerOwners of properties that are rented out are responsible to maintain the property. While a property is leased, it is still the property owners responsibility to maintain the property.TenantIf you have concerns about your rental unit, speak to your landlord or property manager and submit a service request.
