Property Taxes and Utilities

Tax Certificate Fee (includes water/sewer certificate): $75.00

Tax Certificate requests are processed every Thursday with the certificate emailed and/or mailed that day.

Payment Options:

Cheque:  To purchase a tax certificate, please mail our courier a cheque for the fee amount made payable to Town of Wasaga Beach to: 30 LEWIS STREET, WASAGA BEACH ON, L9Z 1A1

In-person Payment: Payment for a Tax Certificate may be made in person at our Municipal office located at 30 Lewis Street by debit, credit, cash, or cheque.

The tax certificate request and a copy of the payment may be forwarded to taxes@wasagabeach.com and we can try our best to expedite the tax certificate before payment is received by mail or in person.

• If you have a financial power of attorney for the registered owner, we need a copy of that power of attorney
• If you do not have a power of attorney, we need written authorization from the property owner.  The form for this can be found here 

• If the deceased has been removed from title, a copy of the deed can be emailed to revenue@wasagabeach.com
• In order to speak about the account with an executor who is not on title, we need the following:
  • A copy of the death certificate
  • A copy of the Will naming the person as executor

• You or your lawyer will need to forward a copy of the deed to the Treasury department at revenue@wasagabeach.com
• We will use that deed to change over the property tax account and set up a new water/sewer account within 10 business days of receiving the deed
• You will then be sent a welcome package with your account numbers, billing schedule and due dates

I have not received a welcome package or any bills

• If you did not receive a welcome package, please confirm with your lawyer that a copy of the deed was sent to us.  We cannot change over the accounts without the deed.  Then contact our office or email revenue@wasagabeach.com so we can watch for it
• If you received a welcome package but have not received a bill, please check the billing schedule.  Tax bills are sent out twice a year and water bills every two months. 
• If you receive your bills by mail, please contact the treasury department to confirm your mailing address. 
• If you receive your bills by email, check your ‘junk’ folders and contact the treasury department to confirm your email address

I am a new tenant and need to transfer the water/sewer account into my name

• In order to open a water account for the property in your name, we need written permission from the property owner
• The form for this can be found here
  
• The form must be signed by the property owner
• Note that the property owner will receive a copy of each of your bills to monitor the account balance

Where can I get garbage bins for my property?

• All waste management is handled by the County of Simcoe
• You can contact them at 705-735-6901
• If you are moving into a new subdivision, the County may require you to provide an Occupancy Permit.  This can be obtained from the building department.

E-billing is available for your property tax and water/sewer bills providing an option to eliminate paper bills. 

If you would like to sign up for this option, please send an email to ebilling@wasagabeach.com with the following information:

1. The municipal address in the Subject Line of your e-mail.
2. Your name and phone number in the body of your e-mail.
3. Your request to be enrolled in ebilling.

Please note:

• Your e-mail must come from the e-mail address that you would like your bill sent to.
• This will enroll you for both property tax and water/sewer billings.
• Allow up to 10 business days for processing.

Failure to receive a tax notice does not excuse a taxpayer from the responsibility for payment or relieve the liability for interest/penalty charges due to late payment.  Town staff does not have the authority to override or reverse penalties and interest charges.

Please monitor your inbox and your junk mail folder and contact us right away if a bill is not received.

  • The closing date for the sale
  • The name and contact information for your lawyers
  • Your forwarding address for your final water/sewer bill
