Follow the steps below to conveniently apply for a marriage licence online:

1. Apply online through ServiceOntario’s Online Marriage Licence Application.

2. Our staff will follow up with any questions and to make an appointment for you to pick up your completed marriage licence at Town Hall. Only one applicant must be present to pick up the licence.

3. Please bring a cash or debit payment of $140.00 to your appointment for the non-refundable marriage licence fee. We do not accept cheques.

Follow the steps below to apply for a marriage licence in-person:

1. Bring a completed licence application form to Town Hall and two pieces of government-issued identification (ID) for each person getting married.

2. Our staff will follow-up with any questions and to make an appointment for you to pick up your completed marriage licence at Town Hall. Only one applicant must be present to pick up the licence. 

3. Please bring a cash or debit payment of $140.00 to your appointment for the non-refundable marriage licence fee. We do not accept cheques.

You will be required to provide two pieces of government-issued identification (ID) for each person getting married when completing your marriage licence application. One piece of ID must include your photo. Examples of government ID include:

• Birth certificate, including any change of name certificates if applicable

• Valid passport

• Record of immigrant landing

• Canadian Citizenship Card

• Valid driver's licence

• Valid Ontario Photo Card

You need to be at least 16 years old to get married in Ontario. If you are under 18, you will need written consent from both your parents. Contact us for further information or for consent forms.

If a previous marriage was dissolved or annulled within Canada, you must submit your original or certified copy of the Decree Absolute or Certificate of Divorce to the Town. You can get a certified copy from the court that issued the divorce. We return these documents to you immediately.

If a previous marriage was dissolved or annulled outside of Canada, you must obtain authorization from the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services before getting a marriage licence. This process can take up to four weeks.

Marriage licences are typically valid anywhere in Ontario for three months, or 90 days, from the date it was issued. You must give the licence to the marriage officiant prior to the ceremony.

The Town of Wasaga Beach offers a number of venues suitable for the wedding and or Receptions.

To request a civil marriage ceremony with the Town, please contact our office at 705-429-3844 ext. 2262. 

Our civil marriage ceremony fees and charges include:

• Marriage License: $140.00 
• Civil Marriage Ceremony: $200.00 + HST
• Civil Marriage Ceremony (after hours): $300.00 + HST
• Witnesses (if required): $15.00 per witness
• Rehearsal: $50.00 + HST
• Travel outside of Wasaga Beach: $0.61/km + HST

Additional facility fees may apply to bookings held outside of typical Town office hours of Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
