Digital Resident Parking Permits

Go to wasagabeach.com/parking-permit 

Complete the form by listing the number of resident parking permits you need.

Continue to fill out all of the necessary information and upload your documentation.

If you are applying for more than one permit, click 'next' at the bottom of the screen so you can submit documentation for your additional vehicles.

Step 2 of 3

Great job! You will receive a verification email within 3-5 business days advising your application has been approved or rejected.

• If your application has been rejected, the email will include an explanation. You can resubmit your application if needed. In this case: Return to Step 1.
• If your application has been approved, you will receive an email indicating that your documentation has been approved. In this case: Proceed to Step 3.

Step 3 of 3

Claim your parking permit. Once your application has been approved, you will receive a second email - this time from HONK inviting you to claim your parking permit. Open this email and select ‘claim permit’.

Log in or sign up. Follow the directions to log in with an existing account, or sign-up for a HONK account and claim your permit (step by step instructions below). 

Congratulations! Once you click 'confirm', your permit is now active and you can park in any Town of Wasaga Beach municipal lot! 

IMPORTANT: Your parking permit will only become valid once your permit has been registered with HONK. 

No. You do not need a mobile device to get a digital residential parking permit. You can apply, upload documents and register your digital parking permit from any internet connected device.

Yes. You can park without a permit for $6.00/hour or at a daily rate of $40 in the premium beachfront parking areas. 

No. Resident (and non-resident) parking permits are valid only in municipal parking lots.

No. Parking is not permitted in municipal lots between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m.

• Vehicle ownership document (the green permit you get when your vehicle is registered with Service Ontario) for each license plate you are registering for.
• Proof of address (examples: utility or water bill from within the last 60 days, lease agreement​, cell phone bill from within the last 60 days, tax bill from current year, driver's license).
• *Please note that while you do not need a mobile device or tablet, you will need to provide a valid email address to obtain a resident parking permit.

Residents are always welcome to apply for a free digital resident parking permit online or in-person at one of the following Town facilities:

• Twin-pad Arena and Library, located at 544 River Road West, Wasaga Beach, ON, L9Z 2X2

Yes, absolutely no payment or personal information is stored in the HONK app. Once it is uploaded and verified, it is deleted. Enforcement Officers will scan parked vehicle license plates and only receive a notification that lets them says 'permit verified' or 'permit not found'.

If I have a valid Accessible Parking Permit, do I also need a Digital Resident Parking Permit?

Yes, you do need a digital resident parking permit to ensure you can park for free. 

How does the Town know if I have a Digital Resident Parking Permit?

Town of Wasaga Beach Enforcement Officers have a tool that checks if the license plate number of a parked vehicle has a valid permit linked to it. They do not have access to any other personal information. 

To avoid a parking violation ticket, it is important that in the HONK app, you select the vehicle you are currently driving when parking.???RACHAEL

How do I know my data is safe? 

The municipality ensures the utmost security for all data collected regarding parking passes. Employing robust encryption measures, the information remains safeguarded both during transit and while at rest. Stored within Canada, stringent access controls are in place, limiting retrieval solely to authorized town staff tasked with verifying eligibility (the same town staff you trust to help you manage your utilities payments and other customer service accounts at Town Hall). No payment or personal information is stored within the HONK app itself.

I don't have a cell phone. Can I still get a digital residential parking permit?

Yes. You do not need a cell phone or mobile device to get a digital residential parking permit. You can apply from any internet-connected device using the link (see "How do I apply" instructions above).

My license plate(s) or vehicle details have changed, or I have a new vehicle. How do I update my digital parking permit?

If you are a resident of Wasaga Beach with a digital parking permit linked to a Wasaga Beach address, and your vehicle has changed or you would like to add another vehicle, please complete a new application:

• Go to wasagabeach.com/parking-permit 
• Complete the form by listing the number of resident parking permits you need.
• Continue to fill out all of the necessary information and upload your documentation.
• If you are applying for more than one permit, click “next” at the bottom of the screen so you can submit documentation for your additional vehicles. Continue to Step 2 and Step3.

If you need a license plate number removed, please change your plate number through the Honk Mobile app or contact HONK Support directly at 800-979-3162.

Why was my application for a resident parking permit rejected?

Applications can be rejected for several reasons; the rejection email you receive from HONK will detail the specific reason why it was rejected.

Reasons for an application rejection can include: additional documents needed, details are not clearly visible on documents, you submitted two ownerships but only listed one vehicle, etc.
