Mapleside Drive Local Improvments |
Mapleside Drive Local Improvements began constriction September 2022. Brought forth by a local improvement petition by affected property owners, the work generally consists of clearing and grubbing the site and installation of a 20m Right of Way on Mapleside Drive (Beatrice Drive to Lilac Street), Orchid Drive (Mapleside to Crocus), and Lilac Street (Mapleside to Robinson Road).
Subsurface works include the installation of watermain, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, sanitary/water services, ditching, and utility crossings. Surface features include new roads, hydrants, street lighting, utilities and site restoration including topsoil and seed. Construction is expected to be completed to base course asphalt by June 2023, and surface works by October 2024. |
Joanne Crescent Construction |
The Joanne Crescent Project began construction in May 2022. Brought forth by a local improvement petition, the project generally consists of clearing and grubbing/tree removal of the site and the installation of a 20m right of way. The ROW subsurface features generally includes a new storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, sanitary/water services and utility crossings. The surface works generally include the new road, street lights, utilities, hydrants and site restoration including topsoil/seed. Construction is expected to be completed October 2022. |
Pridham Park Pedestrian Bridge Replacement |
The Pridham Park Pedestrian Bridge Replacement Project will begin construction August 2022. The work generally consists of installation of sedimentation and erosion control measures, removal and disposal of the existing bridge superstructure and substructure components, installation of the new bridge superstructure, substructure (subdrain, clear stone, rip-rap and structural backfill), helical piles, abutments, trail restoration at the bridge approaches, and site restoration. Project is expected to be completed by September 2022. |
Main Street Bridge Project |
The scope of rehabilitation work includes but is not limited to patching, waterproofing, paving of the concrete deck, removal of existing expansion joints and conversion to semi-integral abutments, re-facing and widening of the sidewalks, replacement of the barriers (parapet walls / railings), re-facing the concrete abutments, replacing the existing bearings, sandblasting and painting the structural steel, new street and navigation lighting, relocating the existing watermain from the north to the south fascia. |
Veterans Way |
Geometric Improvements on Veterans Way and Klondike Park Road and Water main Installation The geometric improvements on Veterans Way as well as the intersection of Veterans Way and Klondike Park Road are critical concerns of safety for the Town. The watermain installation limits will extend from its current termination, south of Fernbrook Drive, to the north-west corner of the Klondike Sports Park. The system extension and upgrade becomes essential when the Town commissions the fourth municipal well at the Jenetta Street well site. As per the 2018 Water Distribution System Model Update the upgrade is estimated to be required in 2032 based on the projected water demands relative to the Town’s population growth. Crews are currently installing water main and constructing the new road profile from Fernbrook to the north-west corner of the Klondike Sports Park along Veterans Way which is scheduled to be paved in November of 2020. Crews will return in the spring of 2021 to complete the top coarse of asphalt along Veterans Way and complete the intersection realignment at Veterans Way and Klondike Park Road. The project is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2021. |
Trillium Creek Berm |
The project which extends approximately 1.6 km from behind the St. Noel Chabanel Elementary School to 45th Street includes a weir/diversion structure, storm sewer outlet system, sheet pile walls, a trail, as well as a sidewalk connection on Dowlwood Drive and urbanization of Baywood Way to convey a small spill to Ramblewood Drive. Crews are currently working on the sheet pile walls, weir structure, and building the berm/walking trail from 45th Street to the south-west corner of St. Noel Chabanel Elementary School. The project is scheduled to be completed in the Spring of 2021. |
Orchard Park Drive Pedestrian Bridge Replacement Project |
The Orchard Park Drive Pedestrian Bridge Replacement Project will begin construction commencing on April 12, 2021. The work generally consists of the removal and disposal of the existing bridge superstructure and substructure components including existing timber deck, railing system and concrete caissons. Installing the new bridge superstructure, minor realignment of the watercourse and trail system to meet new bridge approaches, and site restoration with topsoil / seed and river stone along the creek banks. The project is scheduled to be completed in September 2021. |
Bay Sands External Area and Local Drainage Improvement Project |
The Bay Sands External Area and Local Drainage Improvement Project will begin construction commencing in April 12, 2021. The work generally consists of the reconstruction of Shore Lane between 64th Street North and 61st Street North along with drainage improvements at the associated intersections including new storm sewer, concrete curb, and new asphalt. The work also includes an 1800mm x 900mm concrete box culvert on Crown Lands north of Shore Lane at 62nd Street North and a new outlet structure. The project is scheduled to be completed by November 1, 2021. |
